Hello all. As you know, these are crazy times for artists. I was mid-rehearsal for PRIDE & PREJUDICE at CSUSM when the stay-at-home orders came. I am doing some online projects and readings where I can, but mostly am waiting it out with everyone else. I am fortunate to be able to continue teaching throughout this pandemic. My students and I are all trying to find new ways to connect and grow, even if we have to do it through Zoom! I wish everyone safety and good health. I do believe theatre will survive and I look forward to the day when we can once more gather in a space and share stories together. It’s coming soon!
ACTING – There are a few projects in the pipeline. I will post when they are able to be discussed publicly.
During the pandemic, I was finally able to act with real people in the same room! It was still online work, but the entire Heil family participated in the Playwrights Project PLAYS BY YOUNG WRITERS, performing in three one-acts. I especially want to give a shout-out to PP for coming up with an AEA contract for this project.
Kim and I also participated in Write Out Loud’s SAN DIEGO DECAMERON PROJECT, where 10 stories about the Pandemic are read aloud.
For San Diego REP, we turned BEACHTOWN into a weekly series in the Summer of 2020, holding live “Beachtown City Hall” pandemic task force meetings. Written and directed by Culture Clash’s Herbert Siguenza.
TEACHING – Adjunct Faculty – California State University, San Marcos & Grossmont College
